The Sister Pub is Saved
Don Younger received a fax on Thursday, June 19 from CAMRA, SW London, stating, "The Merton Council has refused planning permission for the demolition of the Prince of Wales." Don immediately notified our friends, managers of the Prince Terry and Debbie Erwin, on holiday at their cottage in Oxted.
The Prince of Wales is our sister Pub in South London. Young's Brewery (the owner of the Prince of Wales), recently proposed to tear down the pub and sell the land to a car dealership.
Horse Brass patrons rallied in support of the Prince. Phone calls were made (many to London), and petitions were distributed and signed by a few hundred people who were sympathetic to the cause. And according to our friend Eric in New York, an "earfull" was given to a sympathetic John Young of Young's Brewery in England, who happend to be visiting Eric's local in New York City at the time.
Through the international community effort and involvement of many good people, the Prince of Wales is saved. An incredible and stunning victory for all!
