The Horse Brass Pub is the original restaurant in Portland to feature authentic British specialties. Others have followed suit, but the difference is that everything on our menu is made the old-fashioned way, using the freshest ingredients. Our meat pies are made with freshly roasted meat, fresh vegetables and rolled hand-made pastry.

BRITISH SPECIALTIES

BANGER DINNER
Two English sausages served with sweet hot mustard, salad, bread and butter.

SAVELOY DINNER
Two smoked beef sausages served with sweet hot mustard, salad, bread and butter.

SCOTCH EGG
A hard cooked egg wrapped in English sausage and deep fried.

ENGLISH PLOUGHMAN'S
Includes 4 cheeses, Branston pickle, apple, pickled onion, crusty bread and garnish.

CHEESE PLATE
3 cheeses served with crackers and apple.

PLOUGHMAN'S LUNCH
Cheese, apple, carrots, pickle and tomato, served with potato chips, bread and butter.

CHICKEN OR TURKEY POT PIE
Chicken or turkey with vegetables baked in a homemade pie shell with chips.

BEEF AND MUSHROOM PIE
Beef and mushrooms baked in a homemade pie shell with chips.

STEAK AND KIDNEY PIE
Steak and kidney baked in a homemade pie shell with chips.

BRIDIE
A meat and onion popover smothered in mushroom gravy with chips.

Hearty vegetable popover with vegetarian curry gravy with chips.

English sausage wrapped in a homemade pastry shell.


FROM THE BROILER

FISH & CHIPS
Four pieces halibut in our own beer batter. Served with fries and coleslaw.

FISHWICH
Filet of beer battered halibut on a toasted bun served with chips. Cheese on request.
Add fries, coleslaw or potato salad.

BEEF BURGER
A 1/3 lb. charbroiled patty of fresh ground chuck. Served on a toasted sesame bun with chips, choice of Swiss, cheddar or American cheese add fries, coleslaw or potato salad.

A PLATTER OF FRIES

CHICKEN BREAST SANDWICH
Marinated chicken breast, charbroiled and served on a crusty roll with chips.  Cheese on request.

NEW YORK STEAK SANDWICH
A charbroiled NY steak on a crusty roll, with coleslaw and fries.

GARDENBURGER
A large Garden patty served on a toasted bun with chips. Cheese on request.

 

RUEBEN SANDWICH

A classic Rueben on marbled rye served with chips.

Your choice freshly roasted Turkey, Roast Beef, Ham, Corned Beef, or Albacore Tuna. Served warm or cold with your choice of American, Cheddar or Swiss cheese on rye, sourdough or whole wheat bread.

TOSSED SALAD
Mixed greens and crispy vegetables with your choice of dressings.

CEASAR SALAD

Heart of Romaine tossed with Ceasar dressing, cheese and homemade croutons.
